Risperdal Lawsuit
The drug Risperdal is under investigation, and some are considering lawsuits against the designer and distributor of the drug, because some reports have shown that pasted allegedly causes young men to develop breast. The proposed lawsuit, which will be directed at Johnson & Johnson, would center on the fact that Johnson & Johnson allegedly failed to give sufficient warning to the young men who use this drug about the side effects that it could have.
One might wonder, how is it that a drug like Risperdal could actually cause young men to develop breast? The answer to this question can be found when examining one of the ways that the active ingredients of Risperdal interact with young male bodies. It is alleged that Risperdal might cause the levels of prolactin to rise in young men. Now prolactin is the hormone that is used to encourage breast development in women. Men, who also are exposed to this hormone, develop what is called gynecomastia.
Can a Young Man Recover?
Young men who have developed breast as a result of taking this drug deal of not only physical trauma, but there’s also the psychological trauma. The process can be reversed in some cases with liposuction. However, in more serious cases, a mastectomy may be required. However, the psychological and emotional damage that a young man may experience as a result of growing breasts like a woman, is something that does not disappear overnight.
